Opi Doxy 20
Dosage Form : Water soluble powder
Composition:
Each 100 gm contains:
Doxycycline hyclate 23.08 gm equivalent to doxycycline 20 gm
Properties:
Doxycycline belongs to the group of tetracyclines and acts bacteriostatically against many Gram(+) positive and
Gram(-) negative bacteria like Bordetella,Campylobacter,E.coli,Haemophilus,Pasteurella,Salmonella,Staphylococcus
and Streptococcus spp.
Doxycycline is also active against Chlamydia,Mycoplasma and Rickettsia spp.The action of doxycycline is based on inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis.
Doxycycline has a great affinity to the lungs and is therefore especially useful for treatment of bacterial respiratory infections.
Indications:
Broiler chickens:
- Pasteurellosis caused by Pasteurella multocida;
- Respiratory infections caused by Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale (ORT).
The presence of the disease in the herd should be established before treatment.
Target Species: broiler chickens
Dosage
For whole product :- 508gm Opidoxy 20% /10 litre of drimking wate for 3-4 consecutive days in in case of Pasteurellosis .
- 017 gm Opidoxy 20% /10 litre of drimking wate for 3-4 consecutive days in case of Respiratory infections.
Contra-Indications
Do not use:- In case of hypersensitivity to tetracyclines
- For administration to animals with severe hepatic insufficiency.
Side Effects
Poultry tolerate double overdoses of doxycycline (40 mg/kg body weight) without any clinical effect Tetracyclines may induce photosensitivity and allergic reactions. If suspected adverse reactions occur, treatment should be discontinued. Intestinal flora may be affected if treatment is very prolonged, and this may result in digestive disturbance.Withdrawal time

Warning&precaution
- Sick animals may have a reduced appetite and an altered drinking pattern and should, if necessary, be medicated parenterally.
- In cases of altered food or drinking water uptake, the concentrations should be adjusted in such a way that the recommended dosage is achieved.
- Do not combine with bactericidal antimicrobial agents such as penicillin and cephalosporins.
- Do not administer at the same time as iron preparations and antacids.
- This product is restricted for use in broiler chickens.
