Opi Erythro 20
Dosage Form : Water soluble powder
Composition
Each 100 gm contains:
Erythromycin thiocyanate 21.6 gm
equivalent to erythromycin 20 gm
Description:
Erythromycin is an antibiotic, of macrolide group, it is usually a
bacteriostatic in action, but in high concentrations it may be
bactericidal, It is active by the oral route against gram positive cocci
and bacilli, some gram negative bacteria (Such as Pasteurella and
Mycoplasma) Erythromycin diffuses very well into tissues. It acts by
binding to 50 S ribosomal subunits of susceptible bacteria, thereby
inhibiting peptide bond formation.
Indications:
poultry: Respiratory diseases. Mycoplasmosis.C.R.D., sinusitis,
infectious synovitis in hens and turkeys.
Dosage and administration
1 gm/ liter of drinking water for 3-5 days.Warnings
to be used in poultry only.
Side effects:
Some gastrointestinal disturbances may occur.Drug interactions:
Should not be used with clindamycin Lincomycin and chloramphenicol.Withdrawal time
